This is one of the images i found online about deforestation . Its a WWF campaign and since im working on the amazon deforastation and its impact not only on the flora but also on the fauna of it, i find it quite relevant  and smart.

Working as an art teacher for my work experience.

Since i'd like to teach after i finish my degree, i chose to do my work experience at an art school in Cyprus. Im currently teaching art to children from the age of 6 to 16 everyday.

Change of plans.

After working on Photoshop, i reckoned that the final images came quite narrative so i decided to make a small story about the human (r)evolution and where it might lead us in the future. Im still going to make a poster using the same images.

Are we going the wrong way?

I tried to combine different bits to make images that are a bit ironic/sarcastic as fas as the evolution is concerned.

Moving on , i want to point out that technology is taking over our lives today .Achievements like creating clones, or have to chance to choose your child's gender have been accomplished but where id this leading us?
Here is a piece of my work that displays an embryo being attached to a microchip instead of its mother, in order to represent technology in our generation and a vision of it in the future.

I would like to show that after humans were created, they brought to the world a lot of suffering with wars etc, so i chose to work on the gas mask as a representative of war and other catastrophes that have to do with the human kind. For example radiation, toxic gases and more.

The human kind is the last stage of the evolution.

After amphibians, dinosaurs would come to life.(1. dinosaur) Some of them would later have wings therefore birds were created.(2.goose) As far as the rest of them that remained just animals, developed into mammals.( 3.gorilla)

Starting, i chose to work on images that relate to the human evolution and its progress. I picked one 'object' from each category.

1. Amoeba, it is the first form of life that divided into the water and created micro-organisms that would later lead to 2. fish, who developed into amphibians that would be able to breath not only underwater. Amphibians also gained the ability to walk. 3.Frog

Colouring Mandalas.

Researching for my self defines project i found more information about mandalas( circles) since im intrested in creating one as my final piece to show the human (r)evolution. According to psychology Mandalas are not just something to look at or meditate on. There are now mandala coloring books. Coloring a mandala using pencil crayons, crayons, paint, or pastels combines the benefits of meditation and art therapy. They are considered to be a new healing tool.

Mandalas like the one above are often given to patients
by art therapists and psychologists to help them
not only relax but expand their creativity.

Metamorphose

Still researcing and looking at M.C Escher's work. Here's a piece i believe relates to my subject. Metamorphose is a a long series of changing shapes.Though its presented in a line its meaning is more like a cycle that begins from the letters of the word 'Metamorphosis' and leads right back to them.

Self initiated project inspiration

For this project i chose to work on the human evolution. I find it interesting to know where humanity comes from and from where it began. What i aim to point out with this particular project is not only the past of humanity but where are we 'going'? What happens then?
Having in mind the familiar to everyone "human evolution' image where an ape becomes a man, i will try and take it from there on to the future.

My idea is to make an A1 poster showing the human evolution. Since life is a circle, i would like to work on that kind of shapes. I really want to also work on making my own mandala (circle) since it represents the world, 'cosmos' symbolically or metaphysically and it's considered to be a microcosm of the universe from the human perspective.

My main inspiration is the work of M.C Escher.  Mandalas represent 'cosmos' which means '' a harmonious system' and originates from the greek word kosmos that means world. Cosmos is the oposite concept of chaos. Escher's work in my opinion represents chaos in a harmonious way which is exactly what i want my final piece to look like. A 'harmonious chaos' that represents the human evolution. i want it to be harmonious to make contrast with the chaos that exist today in the world.

I took pictures of various objects and i decided to use my
earphones to design my typeface

By using headphones to create a typeface im thinking that maybe the final outcome could be used by music companies or maybe by manufacturers of electronics to advertise their products.

My final zine

These are the back and front pages of my zine. I'd like to work a bit more on te cover.

It is a small story of a little mouse leaving his house for the first time in London. It is going to use the tube so my zine is like a 'guide' with rules of the underground.
